The Seattle Seahawks will try to prevent the San Francisco 49ers from clinching the NFC West when they host their division-rivals on Thursday Night Football. San Francisco (9-4) posted a 27-7 home victory against Seattle (7-6) in Week 2 and will clinch its 21st division title with a victory at Lumen Field, as it leads the Seahawks by two games with four weeks remaining. The 49ers cruised past Tampa Bay, 35-7, last week for their sixth consecutive victory. The Seahawks are coming off their third loss in four contests, a 30-24 home setback against Carolina.

Kickoff from Lumen Field is set for 8:15 p.m. ET. San Francisco is a three-point favorite in the latest 49ers vs. Seahawks odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is 43. Why the 49ers can cover

San Francisco hasn’t skipped a beat offensively since losing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a broken foot in Week 13 as Brock Purdy has filled in effectively. The 22-year-old, who was the last player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, tossed two touchdown passes against Miami after replacing Garoppolo and threw another pair while also running for a score in last week’s 35-7 rout of Tampa Bay. Purdy has completed 70.7% of his attempts and posted a 105.2 passer rating over 7 1/2 quarters as the team’s starting quarterback.

Running back Christian McCaffrey will be a major part of the offensive game plan. The 26-year-old has averaged 113.3 scrimmage yards during San Francisco’s winning streak, recording three rushing TDs and three receiving scores in that span. McCaffrey posted his first 100-yard rushing performance (119) as a 49er last week and also registered both a rushing and receiving touchdown for the 11th time in his career, tying Hall-of-Famer Jim Brown for fourth place on the all-time list. See which team to pick here.

Why the Seahawks can cover

Seattle is sixth in scoring after finishing in the middle of the pack last season, and quarterback Geno Smith has been a major reason for the improvement. The Seahawks are averaging 26.3 points with Smith serving as a starting quarterback for the first time since 2014 with the New York Jets. The 32-year-old ranks third in the league with a 106.8 passer rating, fourth with 25 touchdown tosses and sixth with 3,433 passing yards, the latter two being career-highs and the former on track to be a personal best.

Smith has one of the top receiving duos with which to work, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, who are both on pace for 1,000-yard seasons. Lockett, who is seeking his fourth straight 1,000-yard campaign, leads Seattle with 896 yards on 71 receptions, while Metcalf has a team-high 72 catches for 869 yards. The 30-year-old Lockett, who is six years older, had hauled in a touchdown pass in a franchise-record six consecutive games and is first on the club with eight scoring catches, while Metcalf has six. See which team to pick here.
