Evacuation orders remain in effect as a brush fire has burned in Napa County since Tuesday afternoon, though Cal Fire says it is making progress against the blaze. The Old Fire has burned at least 570 acres northeast of Napa as of 8:54 p.m., according to Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit. The fire has remained at 5% containment through several updates. Containment means there is a break or line where combustible material around the fire has been achieved, helping prevent the fire from spreading further.Despite containment not increasing in the past several updates, Cal Fire said the fire is much less active now and hopes to contain and control the fire through the night.Evacuations were first ordered from 1300 Old Soda Springs Road to the end of the road. They now extend to all of Soda Canyon Road and include these areas on the Zonehaven map: NPA-E206,E207, E214, and E215. Twenty-five Napa County sheriff’s deputies and several California Highway Patrol units are helping with evacuations, the sheriff’s office said. There are road closures in effect at Silverado Trail and Soda Canyon. The fire is burning with a red flag warning in effect across the region.
