Sophomore Ashley Galarza hit a walk-off two-run home run to give top-seeded Technology a 21-20 victory over fourth-seeded Arts, in six innings, in the Newark Public Schools Tournament semifinals at Schools Stadium in Newark.
Galarza’s homer capped off a six-run bottom of the sixth for Technology (12-4), which led for most of the day thanks to a 10-run first inning.
Arts (8-9), which trailed 15-5 after three innings, rallied with two runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings before erupting for 11 runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 20-15 advantage. Ivania Rhodes had three runs, a RBI and three stolen bases for Arts. Nashaly Ramirez scored four runs with two stolen bases and Nijah Malave had three runs with two stolen bases.
Technology plays second-seeded Newark East Side in the final on Monday.
